From Inspiration to Innovation
In 2016, artistic enthusiasm and a shared passion for working with wood led me and two friends to embark on a journey that resulted in a unique project we called Holz. Holz was not just about creating art - it was about harnessing the potential of laser engraving technology to elevate everyday wood into something extraordinary.
Project Description
Holz (German for Wood) is a collaborative venture between myself, Sebastian Moreno, and Alejandro Arango. We combine our passion for woodworking and artistic design with the precision of laser engraving technology to create unique and beautiful wood art crafts. Our vision is to transform everyday wood pieces into coasters, wall hangings, and decorative items that inspire and elevate any space.
The Power of Collaboration
One of the most rewarding aspects of Holz Inspire was the collaborative spirit. Each of us brought a different skillset - from design and woodworking expertise to the technical know-how of operating the laser engraver. This synergy allowed us to experiment, brainstorm ideas, and refine our techniques to create truly unique pieces.

Laser engraving technology became the cornerstone of our creative process. We were fascinated by its ability to produce intricate details and crisp designs on wood surfaces. This technology opened up a world of possibilities, allowing us to translate our artistic vision into tangible, one-of-a-kind pieces.
What We Made
Laser-Etched Art
Intricate laser-engraved designs on wood surfaces, producing crisp artwork for coasters, wall hangings, and decorative pieces.
CNC Machining
Used the CHOX CNC machine to add depth and dimension beyond the capabilities of laser cutting alone - precise cuts and custom shaping.
3D Printed Jigs
Custom 3D-printed alignment jigs ensure consistent quality and efficient production across all pieces in a batch.
Vector Design
Inkscape and Fusion 360 used to craft intricate artwork, text, and 3D models that translate perfectly into laser engraver instructions.
Collaborative Process
Three founders with complementary skills in design, woodworking, and programming working together to refine and iterate each collection.
