Designer & Engineer

For the Love of Art, Engineering and Time Management
For the love of art, engineering and time management, the Planetary Clock was designed as a decorative wall piece that also serves as a precision timekeeping instrument. Initially created as a personal addition to the wall and later with commercial intentions, this mechanical marvel blends celestial aesthetics with engineering precision.
Project Description
The Planetary Clock is a handcrafted mechanical timepiece inspired by the motion of celestial bodies. Built with laser-cut acrylic and aluminum components, it combines the elegance of planetary gears with the practicality of timekeeping. The clock features a unique gear train that mimics orbital mechanics, making it both a functional clock and a piece of kinetic art.
Planetary Gear System: Unique gear train inspired by celestial orbital mechanics, creating a mesmerizing visual display while keeping precise time.. Laser-Cut Acrylic: Precision laser-cut acrylic components with clean edges and smooth finishes for an elegant aesthetic.. Aluminum Frame: Durable aluminum structure provides stability and a premium feel to the assembled timepiece.. Kinetic Art Display: Moving gears create a captivating visual experience that transforms timekeeping into an artistic exhibition.. Precision Engineering: Carefully calculated gear ratios ensure accurate timekeeping while maintaining smooth mechanical operation..
My Role
I was responsible for the complete design and engineering of the Planetary Clock, from concept and gear ratio calculations to material selection, laser cutting, and final assembly. Every component was carefully designed and iterated to achieve the perfect balance between aesthetic beauty and mechanical precision.
Technologies included: Autodesk Inventor, 3D Printing, Laser Cut, Alum Frame.
